We encourage all our customers to keep their car serving up to date. A minor service will cover oil changes and safety checks whereas a major service will see replacement of spark plugs, diesel filters, pollen and air filters (where required) and more.
If your car is four years old it may be due for a cam belt replacement. Most cam belts last about five years, and there’s no way of knowing when they’re likely to go. Replacing the cam belt will cost from £200 (depending on make and model) but a broken or snapped cam belt can cause serious engine damage, possibly costing £1000 or more to repair. Check your service receipts and if the cam belt hasn’t been replaced, call us.
Engine oil is the life blood of your vehicle. It’s essential for your engine to function. Any lack of engine oil in the system, or even dirty oil, will lead to extreme engine wear, and driving a car low on oil can lead to some pretty bad situations.
The minimum MOT requirement is 1.6mm over the central three-quarters of the tyre surface. For some types of vehicle, there must also be visible tread on the remaining quarter. To ensure your safety, we suggest you have a minimum of 2mm tread over the entire surface of the tyres – and use the tyre pressures recommended by your vehicle manufacturer.
It could be due for its first MOT. Check the V5 Registration Document for the precise date. Some car dealers only tax vehicles for six months and so owners may find that the first MOT is due before their Road Fund Licence. If you drive your vehicle without a valid MOT certificate, you could invalidate your motor insurance policy. Not sure when the MOT is due? Call us today.
